My story

Sport and fitness have been a part of my life from an early age. Now a qualified personal trainer, I find it incredibly rewarding being able to help motivate, educate and guide others on exercise to help them attain their fitness goals and to make healthy changes to their lifestyle. I believe that collaboration plays an important part of the process and this approach will help you to get the best results from your time, energy and personal training experience. To give you an insight to my coaching style and personality—I'm encouraging, friendly, positive and will challenge and push you to achieve what you are capable of whilst hopefully having some fun along the way! Why not come and train with me to improve your fitness, get stronger and feel at your best?

A passion for sports & fitness

When I was younger my favourite sports were swimming which I did at a competitive level and hockey. I was lucky to learn to ski as a child—the first time being on my local dry slope which lead to me developing a lifelong passion for skiing. I also enjoyed dry slope ski racing in the university leagues. All of these fun sporty experiences have had a very positive influence on my life and made me focused and dedicated when it comes to my own fitness training and living a healthy lifestyle. The feeling of accomplishment, improved confidence and enjoyment which comes from regular exercise and movement is incredibly important for our mental and emotional health. There are also many benefits to our physical health and overall wellbeing from exercise and being more active. It would be great to have the opportunity to help you reach your goals and to enjoy exercise too.

My professional experience

After university and spending my second winter season in the Alps I qualified as a professional ski instructor. I have gained valuable experience teaching and coaching skiers of all ages and abilities from beginners to expert level over a period of 20 years in Europe. Several years ago I made the decision to change my career and to study and qualify as a personal trainer. I believe in the importance of lifelong learning and continue to develop my professional knowledge and skill set through reading, study, courses and certifications to enable me to stay up to date with information, research and training methods.

Favourite sports & activities

I have always enjoyed nature and the outdoors. I absolutely love walking, hiking, exploring the local paths of the Surrey Hills or mountain trails in the Alps and Dolomites, skiing both on and off piste as well as cross country skiing. For my own training I really enjoy a mix of cardio, high intensity interval training (HIIT) and strength based workouts using bodyweight and free weights to keep my fitness balanced and to help me perform better in the sports and activities that I do. A well rounded exercise routine enables me to stay fit, strong and energised. And if drinking espresso can be classed as an activity? I love doing that too! I also enjoy cooking healthy, nutritious and tasty food.

Staying fit for sports & life!

To improve performance and reduce the risk of injury for other sports or activities it is beneficial to develop cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and mobility. As well as other fitness skills such as balance, stability, coordination, agility or power depending on your needs. I also believe we should be looking to maintain or improve our general fitness and functional strength to make everyday activities easier and prevent injury, especially as we age. Through regular exercise you will feel more energetic. It can help you to manage stress and promote better sleep quality too. In addition, exercise and strength training is particularly important for women in order to help alleviate and protect against the effects of changing hormone levels in perimenopause, at menopause and the years beyond. If you are looking to get fitter, stronger and feeling more capable come and find out how exercise and strength training can help you to thrive.

Skiing fitness and strength training

Through my work as a ski instructor and coach I have practical experience of the benefits of fitness. For skiing it is important to develop cardiovascular fitness and improve your muscular strength and endurance as this enables you to ski for longer, perform better, recover quicker and to reduce your risk of injury on the slopes. Flexibility, mobility and balance are also key aspects of fitness which skiers of all experience levels should focus on to improve their technical performance and to reduce the risk of falls or injury. I can provide ski fitness training if you are looking to get fit and strong for your next skiing holiday or event so that you can maximise your time skiing.
